the project

Madden BCF is a project to create Black College football teams to use in the EA Sports Madden game engine. We are not agents or employees of EA Sports or Electronic Arts, but just a couple of football gamers who want to play with our own schools.
The project has 2 goals: You will need to have a copy of John Madden NFL™ Football 2002 (PC version) and download the rosters from this site. We are considering making the transition to John Madden NFL™ Football 2004 (PC version). No timetable has been set as to when a decision will be made. We do wish to foster an on-line franchise for league play, a feature not supported in Madden NFL™ Football 2003, which weighed heavily on the decision to migrate to that particular version. As such, the roster file currently available represents the players and coaches from the 2001 football season, the last season for which we created rosters.

Team Rosters

We tried to add the most accurate and current rosters from the teams represented by the MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC and select 1-AA Predominantly White colleges (PWCs). When we could not find 2-deep rosters for every team, we assigned positions, starters and substitutes based on season stats and classification.
NOTE: For the sake of simplicity, Tennessee State (Ohio Valley Conference) uses the MEAC as a frame of reference for rating players, and the two BCF Division 1-AA independent teams (Morris Brown and Savannah State) use 1-AA independent teams as their frame of reference.

Needs

We need volunteers to help us update to the current, real-life players. Also, if you see anything missing or incorrect, help us out: Photos of home/away team uniforms, entire team rosters (with emphasis on the 2-deep roster), and any available statistics.
